Join New Immigrants United to create a new future!
- Friday, 01 July 2011
Greeting! The goal of New Immigrant United (NIU) is to represent and promote the interest of all new immigrants in North America. Since its founding, it has gone through a lot of hardships and adverse. But all these just enhanced our conviction and boosted our enthusiasm. After heated discussions and reflections, and based on the past experiences, we decided to reform NIU, and to prepare it for more tasks in service of our future.
After reform, NIU will emphasize organization as much as projects. We created special managing and inspecting departments to make sure our projects proceed with high efficiency; we created public relationship department for the institutions further growth; we will also train the directors of all the departments to make sure our teams work with high corporative spirit.
NIU is determined to serve all new immigrants in North America, as such it needs support and contribution from every one in this land. Below is a brief introduction to the offices and vacant posts. Please be reminded that this offices and posts by no means indicate your participation should be limited thereby. Please feel free to contact with us if you want to join us work together for the common goal.

- Tuesday, 21 June 2011
Hello, friends and supporters of New Immigrants United (NIU):
Because of the shortage of 2,300 third employment-based immigration visas which should be allocated to EB3 China in fiscal year 2009, EB3 Trust as part of NIU filed a class action which has been supported by NIU from the beginning. On March 15, 2011, the judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington approved a government motion to dismiss the EB3C lawsuit. After EB3 Trust and NIU consulted immigration attorneys and other professionals, an appeal had been filed to the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals for justice. The EB3 Trust has raised $ 15,000 for the legal fee of the appeal which actually needs $ 20,000. The short of $ 5,000 legal fee must be paid off by the end of this month. The NIU Council, after discussion and votes, decided to use the NIU existing fund to support the EB3 lawsuit because the lawsuit represents the legal rights and interests of the entire employment-based immigrants from China. NIU will pay the $ 5,000 legal fee for the EB3 lawsuit, and monitor the progress of the case and the use of the fund. However, NIU respects the wishes of all donors. If you, as a donor, do not agree with the above decision, please contact us before the end of June. We will respect your opinion and keep your donation in the original project. Equality of China and US work visa
- Sunday, 13 June 2010
Executive Chairman: Yun Wang ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )
Update:
The U.S. H visa issued to Chinese citizen now has multiple entries within one year. The goal is achieved no matter how much impact of the NIU’s petition brought to this positive change.
The letter to State of Department about US-China work visa inequality from NIU:
Dear Sir/Madam,
Based on visa reciprocity rules http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3272.html. The Foreigner Residence Permit, typically good for one year and renewable annually, is standard issue for the majority of foreigners working in China, though some (such as company executives, legal representatives, or investors) qualify for a permit that is good for two years. With a valid residence permit you are allowed to leave the country and return, even if your initial entry visa has expired. For Chinese citizens working in the US, H1b visa is valid for 3 months. Upon entering the US, US Customs and Border Patrol officers decide the length of stay for each visa holder and stamp the validity of the entry on I94 form. Although Chinese citizens can legally work with expired H1b visa and valid I94 form, we have to obtain new visas if we leave the US and come back later. There is no United States equivalent of Chinese 'Resident Permit' that allows permit holder with expired work visa to enter China multiple times within one or two year. We strongly believe
the visa reciprocity rule should reflect the actual effect of the visa. I summarized the real effects of both type of visa in table below:
|
|
US – H1b Visa |
China – Z Visa |
|
Validity |
3 months / 2 entries |
3 months / 1 entry |
|
Resident Permit |
n/a |
Required after entering China. 1 or 2 year/Multiple entires |
|
Effect |
Visa holder may enter US twice within three months |
Visa holder may enter China multiple times within 1 or 2 years |
To respect the equality principle of visa reciprocity rule, we would like to ask you to petition US Department of State to grant Chinese H1b visa holder multi-year and multi-entry visa. Your attention and response to this matter are greatly appreciated.
Yours Sincerely,
