Notice of NIU Funding EB3 Lawsuit

  • PDF

Hello, friends and supporters of New Immigrants United (NIU):

Because of the shortage of 2,300 third employment-based immigration visas which should be allocated to EB3 China in fiscal year 2009, EB3 Trust as part of NIU filed a class action which has been supported by NIU from the beginning. On March 15, 2011, the judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington approved a government motion to dismiss the EB3C lawsuit. After EB3 Trust and NIU consulted immigration attorneys and other professionals, an appeal had been filed to the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals for justice. The EB3 Trust has raised $ 15,000 for the legal fee of the appeal which actually needs $ 20,000. The short of $ 5,000 legal fee must be paid off by the end of this month. The NIU Council, after discussion and votes, decided to use the NIU existing fund to support the EB3 lawsuit because the lawsuit represents the legal rights and interests of the entire employment-based immigrants from China. NIU will pay the $ 5,000 legal fee for the EB3 lawsuit, and monitor the progress of the case and the use of the fund. However, NIU respects the wishes of all donors. If you, as a donor, do not agree with the above decision, please contact us before the end of June. We will respect your opinion and keep your donation in the original project.
